Thikra: Night of Remembering is a contemporary dance production by the acclaimed, multi-award-winning director and choreographer Akram Khan. The visual world of the production was created by the Saudi artist Manal AlDowayan. Don’t miss these spellbinding performances at Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi on 20 and 21 November 2026.

Featuring an all-female ensemble of contemporary voices, Thikra — from the Arabic for “memory” and “remembrance” — is conceived as a night ritual: women gather for one night only to awaken the spirits of those who came before them. Through a sacred ceremony and shared remembrance, they transcend the boundaries of time, uniting past and present in a profound act of renewal.

These performances of Thikra: Night of Remembering are a rare chance to see the company bring this chapter of its history to an end with a work of such force and brilliance.

By car: You can drive to the Cultural Foundation from anywhere in Abu Dhabi. You can park there for free. By public transport: The Cultural Foundation is accessible by bus. The nearest bus station would be Abu Dhabi Bus Station, which is 1.2 kilometres away from the Cultural Foundation. By taxi: You can also take a taxi to the Cultural Foundation. It's a famous destination and most drivers would be familiar with its location.
